LYNCHBURG, Va. — (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Police Department reports a minor has been charged in a shooting that occurred in Lynchburg on April 5th.

Around 5:17 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to the 2000 block of Ridge Avenue and determined shots were fired from behind a home. On the scene, multiple people were detained, including an unidentified juvenile male who allegedly assaulted an officer during the process.

During the investigation that followed, four firearms were allegedly seized from inside the home. Three of which allegedly had been reported stolen from vehicles parked in the Leesville Road area on the night of Wednesday, April 5th.

A 16-year-old male was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a stolen firearm
  • Reckless handling of a firearm
  • Shooting within the city
  • Possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18
  • Assault on a law enforcement officer

He is currently being held at the Juvenile Detention Center. LPD is continuing to investigate the incident and asks anyone with information to contact the station at 434-455-6050.
