Teen arrested in case involving multiple fires set this summer around Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Police confirmed Wednesday that a teenager has been arrested and charged in connection with a string of fires that were set this summer around the Hill City.

According to the Lynchburg Police Department, 19-year-old Brennan Thornhill of Lynchburg, turned himself in to authorities on Sept. 2 and was charged with the following:

  • 10 counts of maliciously setting fire to wood, fence, grass, straw or similar material capable of spreading fire on land
  • One count of arson involving a vehicle

The Lynchburg Police Department and the Lynchburg Fire Marshal’s Office collaborated on this investigation, which is still ongoing as of this writing.
