SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE, Va. (WFXR) – With new restrictions now in place amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Smith Mountain Lake has canceled this year’s Santa Around Bridgewater Plaza, originally scheduled for Nov. 28.
“New mandates prohibit public gatherings of more than 25 people, so it is not feasible for us to hold the event this year. Of course, we’re disappointed, but the safety of those in the Smith Mountain Lake community is most important right now as the virus continues to spread.”

Gray did mention that Small Business Saturday will continue as scheduled on Nov. 28.
