UPDATE 5:33 a.m. (7/19/22): The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office says a minor has been taken into custody for attempted homicide and other gun-related charges following Thursday afternoon’s report of shots fired in Shipman.
According to authorities, the minor arrested on Friday, July 15 and is being held at the juvenile detention center for the charges listed below:
- Attempted homicide
- Attempted armed robbery
- Shooting at or throwing missiles at a vehicle
- Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
- Threats of death or bodily injury to a person
Officials tell WFXR News that the investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
“We would like thank those that have assisted, community members, Virginia State Police, Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (Conservation Police), Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals,” the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook.
NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — An investigation is underway in Nelson County following a report of shots fired in Shipman Thursday afternoon.
The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office says a call came in at approximately 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 14 about the reported shooting in the 11000 block of James River Road.
Officials tell WFXR News the suspect in this incident is a juvenile, but did not say whether or not that juvenile was arrested.
Based on the information gathered, the sheriff’s office announced on Friday, July 15 this was an isolated event, adding that there are no known threats at this time.
