Saturday night shooting in Lynchburg leaves one man injured

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Police say a man was taken to the hospital following a Saturday night shooting in Lynchburg along Jubilee Drive.

According to the Lynchburg Police Department, shortly before 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, LynComm received a call about a gun being fired and someone getting shot in the road in the 100 block of Jubilee Drive.

The department says officers were in the area, heard the shot fired, and arrived on scene in under a minute.

Police say they found a man with a gunshot wound and performed first aid until medics arrived.

The Lynchburg Fire Department reportedly transported the victim was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital, where he received treatment for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

However, officials say the suspect fled the scene and their identity is unknown at this time.

This marks the third shooting in that part of Lynchburg over the last month, including the shootings at James Crossing Apartments that left one man dead on April 20 and sent one man to the hospital on May 1.
