Salvation Army of Greater Lynchburg to hold drive-thru food drive Wednesday

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Salvation Army of Greater Lynchburg will host a drive-thru food distribution event on Wednesday morning.

The event will be held in the parking lot of The Salvation Army at 2211 Park Avenue from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, March 24. While the event will primarily be drive-thru, walk-ups are welcome beginning at 11 a.m.

“More and more families are experiencing food insecurity due to financial strain from the COVID-19 pandemic,” Maj. Caleb Prieto stated. “We want to provide a safe way to meet this need for those in our community.”

The Lynchburg Salvation Army will be providing families and individuals with food bags that include non-perishable food items such as canned goods, pasta, and cereal.

Vehicles will be directed to turn onto Stuart Street off of Park Avenue and enter the Salvation Army parking lot from Stuart Street.
