CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Authorities say a wanted Rustburg man is in custody thanks to a Campbell County deputy and K9’s efforts Wednesday morning.

According to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call for service in the Sunnymeade Road area at approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10.

However, when authorities approached, 39-year-old Bobby Wayne Dalton, Jr. of Rustburg — who was wanted for unauthorized use of a vehicle, failure to appear, and distribution of Schedule I/II narcotics — ran away.

As a result, the responding officers contacted the K9 Unit.

Deputy Cameron Byrd and K9 Dyson were then dispatched to track down Dalton, who was apprehended without incident approximately 30 minutes later, the sheriff’s office says.

According to officials, Dalton is now in custody with additional charges possibly pending.
