UPDATE: Route 29 north reopened in Amherst County after earlier tractor-trailer crash

UPDATE 4:50 p.m.: Route 29 north has reopened in Amherst County after several hours of a road blockage due to a tractor-trailer crash.

Traffic is said to be flowing normally around this area.


UPDATE 3:35 p.m.: Traffic continues to be detoured off Route 29 north in Amherst County due to a tractor-trailer crash.

VDOT has not updated any information on the crash, but they continue indicated the detour is still in place.


AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – A tractor-trailer crash has closed a section of Route 29 in Amherst County.

According to VDOT, the crash is near the exit with Route 130.

A detour is in place where drivers will exit Route 29 north at Route 130 and will continue northbound on Route 29 Business.
