NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office has reported it has arrested a man on child pornography charges on Monday, Jan. 23.
Deputies say their investigation began in June of 2022 after they received a child pornography complaint. A joint investigation with the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force revealed that 50-year-old John Richard Proffitt, of Roseland, was allegedly in possession of child pornography.
Proffitt has been arrested and charged with 30 counts of possession of child pornography.
He was being held without bond at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail.
