LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — For qualifying small businesses in the greater Lynchburg area struggling to fill open positions, Virginia Career Works wants to help.

Specifically, the Central Virginia Local Workforce Development Board — which serves the City of Lynchburg, as well as Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell counties — wants to match dollar-for-dollar, up to $500, so that eligible businesses can offer bigger hiring incentives to job candidates.

This funding will enable an employer to turn a $500 sign-on bonus to a $1,000 sign-on bonus.

Certain eligibility requirements must be met by businesses applying for the matching funding. For example, qualifying businesses must have fewer than 99 employees. Also, employees receiving the bonus must make at least $15 hourly in a taxable part-time or full-time position.

The Return to Earn program is statewide. However, eligibility requirements and available funding may vary from region to region across the Commonwealth.

For employers in the greater Lynchburg area interested in the program, you can find more information at www.vcwcentralregion.com/return-to-earn/ regarding eligibility requirements.
