RESIDENTS REJOICE: Lynchburg’s Main Street is fully open

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – After 801 days of construction, Lynchburg’s Main Street is fully opened.

It’s been over two years of headaches for residents, drivers and businesses in the downtown area.

Now, traffic is two lanes on Main Street, new water lines and sewers have been replaced, sidewalks are back open and residents and guests of the Hill City can relish in the return to normalcy.

The project consisted of installing 2,000 feet of new waterline, eight underground electrical vaults and 56,000 decorative bricks laid out on downtown sidewalks.
