LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – With recent cold overnight temperatures, the need for warm clothing for the less fortunate in the Lynchburg area is growing.

This cold weather is bringing more activity to The Clothing Connection, a free clothing store run by Park View Community Mission in Lynchburg.

Todd Blake, the Mission’s new executive director, says more than 200 people came into the store to get clothing last week — nearly double from the average.

“Normally [we] give away about a thousand pounds of clothes a week, but last week it was closer to 2,000,” said Blake.

If you have anything you want to donate, you are asked to bring those items by during normal business hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and from noon to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays.

Park View Community Mission is located on the lower level of the Plaza on Memorial Avenue.
