Lynchburg & Central Virginia News

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — One highly-anticipated festival brought many people out on Saturday in Lynchburg for plenty of food and music.

Hundreds went to Riverfront Park between 2 and 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 17 for “The One Family Soul Food and Funk Festival,” presented by Mix 88.9.

There were many types of soul food vendors and, of course, plenty of music.

The show featured rap artist ‘Rakim’ as the headliner. Other artists included Slave, Junkyard Band, Sam the beast from the East, Black Diamond Band and Tony Camm and the Funk Allstars. It was hosted by comedian Gravedigger.

Tickets were $30 and some of that money is going to the Virginia Prep Sports Academy, a Lynchburg nonprofit and post-graduate program that helps prepare student-athletes for college.
