LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — People are rallying to strengthen their neighborhoods this weekend in Lynchburg.
Local pastors and residents who have lost children to gun violence spoke about the importance of the community coming together.
Among the speakers was a former felon turned reverend, and the visionary of the event, Rev. Marcus Oliver. He says he wants to do his part to prevent young people from traveling the same road he traveled.
“We, together, can unite for Christ and let the community know that they can lean on us and that’s what it’s all about and we did that today,” Oliver said.
This is the first year the folks in Lynchburg held this event. They say they’re hoping to make it an annual event.
