Public invited to attend Lynchburg observance of Police Week

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Next week, the Lynchburg Police Department will observe National Police Week, and the public is invited to attend.

National Police Week honors officers who have lost their lives while serving and protecting others.

Along with organizations like the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum, the Fraternal Order of Police and Auxiliary (FOP), and Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), the Lynchburg Police Department will observe National Police Week beginning from Wednesday, Oct. 13, through Sunday, Oct. 17.

However, according to the department, the events will be held between Tuesday, Oct. 12 and Friday, Oct. 22.

The observance will include a solemn memorial ceremony, a wreath laying ceremony, and a promotional ceremony.
