Police searching for driver after serious crash on US-29 North in Lynchburg overnight

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Police in Lynchburg are looking for a driver after his passenger was seriously injured in an overnight crash on U.S. Route 29 North.

The Lynchburg Police Department says officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle crash at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5 after a car rolled over on the expressway near the Candlers Mountain Road off ramp. 

Even though the driver left the area on foot, police say a passenger was brought to Lynchburg General Hospital with serious injuries.

In addition, U.S. Route 29 North was reportedly shut down for several hours because of the crash.

According to the department, the driver of the car is described as a man wearing a black jacket and shorts.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
