Police: Lynchburg woman arrested after another woman hit in the head with a bat

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — A Lynchburg woman was arrested overnight after police say another woman was sent to the hospital with injuries caused by a baseball bat.

The Lynchburg Police Department told WFXR News that officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Grace Street shortly after 10:50 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15 for a report of a malicious wounding.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a female who was bleeding heavily after being hit in the head with a baseball bat. The victim was brought to Lynchburg General Hospital and treated for her injuries.

According to the department, 30-year-old Dawn Shaniqua Jackson was found at the scene and charged with malicious wounding in connection with the incident. 

The Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority says Jackson is currently being held at the Lynchburg Adult Detention Center without bond.
