LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Police are investigating property damage and vandalism that occurred early Saturday morning at the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center in Lynchburg.
At approximately 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, the Lynchburg Police Department says officers responded to the pregnancy center, located at 3701 Old Forest Road, for a call about overnight property damage.
Upon arrival, police discovered that the building and sidewalks had been spray painted with graffiti, and multiple windows had been broken.
According to authorities, security camera footage from 1:23 a.m. on Saturday shows four masked individuals — shown in the slideshow below — committing the acts.
As seen in the photographs shared by the department, one of the phrases spray painted on the pregnancy center says “IF ABORTION AIN’T SAFE YOU AIN’T SAFE!”
This news comes shortly after the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, ending constitutional protections for abortion that had been in place for nearly 50 years.
The incident at the Lynchburg pregnancy facility drew a lot of attention on social media, even sparking a response from Gov. Glenn Youngkin:
There is no room for this in Virginia, breaking the law is unacceptable. This is not how we find common ground. Virginia State Police stands ready to support local law enforcement as they investigate.
