LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Lynchburg authorities are investigating after a boy was grazed by gunfire during an overnight shooting on Grady Street.
The Lynchburg Police Department says officers responded to the 700 block of Grady Street at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 12 for a report of shots fired.
When they arrived at the scene, police say they learned that a residence had been hit by gunfire while people were inside.
According to the department, a 10-year-old boy sustained a “grazing gunshot wound” and was treated at the scene for the superficial injury.
Authorities tell WFXR News that nobody else was injured in the incident.
A neighbor named Jordan Aultice says her husband was the one who called the police after hearing a few gunshots.
“I think that’s terrible that a 10-year-old was put in a position to where they could have potentially been severely harmed,” said Aultice. “I hate that that happened and I hope everything’s okay with the child for sure.”
