BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — On Wednesday afternoon, the Bedford Fire Department says crews responded to a report of person who was struck by lighting on a mountain.

The incident was reported from the top of Sharp Top Mountain at 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday June 8, so units say they had to hike up the mountain with medical supplies and equipment.

When first responders reached the man, they say he was alert, but complained of pain, weakness, and tingling in his extremities.

Crews carried the man down the mountain and he was taken to Bedford Memorial Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
