UPDATE: Amherst County authorities identify man killed after tree fell on trailer during severe storms

UPDATE 10:20 a.m. 5/5/21: Amherst County authorities announced Wednesday the identity of the man who died on Tuesday after a tree fell onto a trailer amid the afternoon storms.

The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office says investigators were called to B Street in Monroe for a call about a tree falling onto an enclosed trailer occupied by a lawn mowing crew who was loading their equipment during the storms on Tuesday, May 4.

According to officials, 34-year-old Christopher Samuel Moore of Rustburg was killed in the incident.

UPDATE 7:10 p.m.: The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office says a 34-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, was killed when a tree fell onto an enclosed trailer into which he was loading a lawnmower.

The man’s next-of-kin has not yet been notified. At that time, authorities will release the man’s name.

AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – During Tuesday’s severe thunderstorms, damaging winds toppled a tree in Amherst County that fell on a vehicle, killing one person about three miles southwest of Falconerville.

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg says the incident happened near B Street around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4.

The person who was killed has not yet been identified. The Amherst Police Department says he’s from West Virginia and may have been at the house doing work.
