Officer hospitalized after two Lynchburg police vehicles crash downtown

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Two Lynchburg police officers were involved in a crash Thursday evening, one of whom ended up in the hospital.

According to the Lynchburg Police Department, at 5:09 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, officers — along with members of the Lynchburg Fire Department — responded to the intersection of 5th Street and Clay Street for a crash involving two LPD vehicles.

The department says the officers involved were driving with their emergency lights and sirens to assist on another call.

Police say one officer was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital with minor injuries.
