CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — According to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, a North Carolina man has been arrested in connection with Tuesday’s deadly shooting at a church.

On Thursday, July 7, officials say the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office arrested 52-year-old Michael Cerillo of Lexington, North Carolina, without incident at his home.

Authorities tell WFXR News that Cerillo is currently facing the following charges following the death of Robert Staton outside Saint Paul’s Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 5:

  • Second-degree murder
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Use of a firearm by a convicted felon

Cerillo is reportedly being held in North Carolina without bond, pending extradition.
