CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Authorities shared additional information on Wednesday about a two-vehicle crash from late June that left a motorcyclist dead in Campbell County.

According to Virginia State Police, troopers were called out to a crash on Route 460 at Doss Road at approximately 6:53 a.m. on June 25.

Police say a 2001 Harley-Davidson FLS was heading east on Route 460 when a 2012 Mercedes M35 — trying to make a left turn from Doss Road onto Route 460 West — pulled out in front of it. The motorcycle then struck the driver side of the Mercedes.

The motorcyclist — identified by authorities as 64-year-old Steven K. Bryant of Madison Heights — was wearing a helmet and died at the scene of the crash.

Meanwhile, the Mercedes’ driver, 48-year-old Keith T. Petty of Concord, Va., was uninjured in the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Virginia State Police previously said on June 25 that charges were pending consultation with the Commonwealth’s Attorney, but there is no mention of charges in the statement released by police on Wednesday, July 14.

The crash is still under investigation at this time.
