NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — On Sunday night, state troopers were called out to the scene of a Nelson County crash that took the life of a North Carolina man.

Virginia State Police say they responded to the single-vehicle crash on Route 29 — more than a quarter-mile north of Wilson Hill Road — around 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 24.

According to authorities, a 2009 Toyota Corolla was heading south on Route 29, ran off the left side of the road, hit a ditch and several trees, and overturned.

The driver — identified by police as 37-year-old Andrew A. Rayle of Greensboro, N.C. — was wearing a seatbelt, but he died at the scene of the wreck.

As of Tuesday, April 26, officials say this deadly crash is still under investigation.
