Multiple departments respond to garage fire in Rustburg

RUSTBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Concord Volunteer Fire Department was among those who responded to a report of a commercial structure fire in Rustburg Sunday morning.

According to the department, crews were dispatched at approximately 9:18 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29.

When they arrived, fire officials say found a garage along Brownsmill Road that was heavily involved with fire that was threatening another building. Fire crews worked to knock down that fire while another crew worked to protect the other structure.

According to the Forest Volunteer Fire Department, the fire originated in an auto body shop, but extended into two buildings and involved multiple vehicles.

Crews reportedly spent more than three hours operating at the scene.
