UPDATE 2:43 p.m.: A two-story home in the Virginia Ridge subdivision along Hardy Road was well-involved in flames Friday morning.
According to the Stewartsville-Chamblissburg Volunteer Fire Department, crews were dispatched at 7:48 a.m. on Friday, March 5 to reports of a home on fire with flames showing.
Roanoke County Fire and Rescue and the Forest Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the fire. When crews arrived, they found a two-story home well-involved in flames.
Weather conditions posed an issue for fire crews on scene. With the home quickly deteriorating, crews worked in defensive mode for the duration of the fire for safety.
The fire remains under investigation.
HARDY, Va. (WFXR) — First responders from multiple Bedford County fire departments are at the scene of a Friday morning fire in Hardy.
The Forest Volunteer Fire Department tweeted shortly before 8:15 a.m. on Friday, March 5 that crews were heading to the Hardy community for a working fire.
Fire officials said members of the Stewartsville-Chamblissburg Volunteer Fire Company were already on the scene, where heavy flames were showing from three sides.
