CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A man is facing multiple charges after Campbell County authorities responded to a report of a shooting on Tuesday.
The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office says a call came in on Tuesday, June 21 about a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound at 204 Wileman Road, with a complainant telling dispatchers they heard what sounded like gunfire in the area.
According to authorities, Jessi Kendrick pulled up to the scene in a white pickup truck shortly after deputies arrived. Kendrick then jumped out of the driver’s side and started screaming as he ran toward the deputies.
Officials say Kendrick ignored the deputies’ orders, so they took him into custody.
As authorities investigated the incident, they reportedly seized a firearm at the scene.
According to the sheriff’s office, Kendrick was charged with reckless handling of a firearm and obstruction of justice. He is being held without bond at the Amherst County Adult Detention Center.
