LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Lynchburg Police arrested a man in connection with a Friday morning vehicle crash on U.S. Route 29 North near the Candlers Mountain Road exit.

According to the Lynchburg Police Department, officers responded to a crash involving an overturned car along U.S. Route 29 North at approximately 7:15 a.m. on Friday, June 18.

The department says the driver — 48-year-old Thomas Eric Lowe of Amherst — was removed from the car and transported to Lynchburg General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. However, while on the scene, police say they found a large amount of drugs both on the driver and in the vehicle.

Lowe was charged with five counts of possession of a schedule 1 or 2 drug, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, driving under the influence, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to authorities.

Lowe is now in the Lynchburg Adult Detention Center after being released from the hospital.
