Lynchburg school officials share plans for in-person graduations

Lynchburg & Central Virginia News

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Lynchburg City Schools plans to hold in-person graduation ceremonies this year for seniors at Heritage and E.C. Glass high schools.

Graduation will be held at City Stadium on May 30, with morning and afternoon ceremonies.

However, seniors will have a limited number of tickets to give out to guests in order to stay within Gov. Ralph Northam’s 30 percent capacity guidelines for outdoor events.

“And they’re working out those details right now, but we do want families to be able to enjoy seeing their children graduate,” said Dr. Crystal Edwards, Superintendent for Lynchburg City Schools. “We want children to graduate together, although we’ll space them apart while we do that, but we’re looking forward to this.”

A spokesperson for the school district says more information about graduation will come out later in the day on Wednesday, May 5.
