LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Daily and weather permitting milling operations will take place this week, in an operation that began yesterday and will continue until Sept. 22.

According to the Public Work Department, from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., the following streets will undergo milling operations from the following locations:

  • Third Street (from Monroe Street to Federal Street)
  • Fourth Street (from Monroe Street to Jackson Street)
  • Polk Street (from Fifth Street to Second Street)
  • Monroe Street (from Fifth Street to Second Street)

Department officials also say, beginning on that Thursday until Monday, Sept. 26, paving operations will be performed at those same locations from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., weekdays if weather permits.

Organizers say, traffic will be restricted to one lane with assistance from flag personnel. Travelers should expect minor delays and use caution when driving through the work zones, and emergency vehicles will have access at all times.
