LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — A new month brings news hours of operation for the Lynchburg Public Library!

Starting Monday, May 2, city officials say the main branch of the Lynchburg Public Library — located at 2315 Memorial Avenue — will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with curbside service still available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Then, on Tuesdays, the library will close at 8 p.m.

“Patrons are invited to return to the library to update their library cards or to get a new one. Library cards are free and available to everyone of all ages, no matter where you live,” the City of Lynchburg said in a statement. “Come check out a book or learn about digital resources available, including free downloads of thousands of e-books and e-audiobooks with a Lynchburg Library card.”

In addition, in-person library programs are back with a variety of opportunities for all ages, such as weekly children’s story time programs, afterschool teen programs, and adult craft days every Tuesday. You can learn more about these and other activities by clicking here.

Besides books and programs, officials say all internet computers are available for adults and children.

The library has partnered with several local organizations — including Roads 2 Recovery, Virginia Career Works, Virginia Employment Commission, and Bright Services — to provide free resources and services to library patrons. You can find out when these organizations will have a representative on site at the library by calling the Adult Services Department at 434-455-6310.

However, the Downtown Branch Library in City Hall will stay closed at this time.
