LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — If you see a heavy police presence at two Lynchburg locations on Wednesday, there is no need to worry.

The Lynchburg Police Department says it is conducting a training exercise from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Liberty University Scaremare building along Carroll Avenue, as well as the City Stadium Complex on Fort Avenue.

According to authorities, the training exercise will include the department’s Tactical Unit, Crisis Negotiation Team, and drones.

Even though the exercise is not open to spectators, police say Lynchburg community members can expect to see a large number of officers at these locations throughout the day.
