Lynchburg Police introduce new lateral transfer program to recruit new officers

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Lynchburg Police Department has announced its new lateral transfer program as they seek experienced candidates to become police officers.

Department officials say that they are taking applications for Virginia certified officers who will receive 100 percent law enforcement officer credit for up to 15 years of service with a maximum starting salary of $51,604.80.

They say that all certified officers will receive a $5,000 signing bonus as well as salary and rank correlating to their experience which goes as follows:

  • One year certified: Police Officer
  • Minimum of three years certified: POII
  • Minimum of five years certified: POIII
