UPDATE 3:22 p.m. (6/7/22): More than a month after police found a man dead inside of his Lynchburg apartment from apparent medical complications, authorities announced that they tracked down a witness in the investigation.
The Lynchburg Police Department says detectives were able to track down and speak with Steven Church in Nashville, Tennessee on May 23.
According to officials, Church cooperated with the detectives and provided a statement about the events leading up to the death of 38-year-old John Cashman, whose body was discovered at 1415 Kempler Street on April 19.
As of Tuesday, June 7, authorities say Cashman’s death investigation is still ongoing.

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Police Department released the identity of the man wanted, who they believe, may have information about a death investigation in April.
Police say 34-year-old Steven Michael Church of Elizabethton, Tennessee is wanted solely as a witness. They believe Church may have information in the case from 1415 Kempler Street.
Officers were called out to an apartment at approximately 5:45 a.m. on April 19. When they arrived, they found a 38-year-old man dead from apparent medical complications.
However, police obtained a doorbell camera video that captured a man leaving the apartment before the tenant’s death.
