LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD), in partnership with Horizon Behavioral Health, is recognizing National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

LPD will be having a collection event on Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Horizon Behavioral Health parking lot, located at 2215 Langhorne Road.

According to LPD, this is just one of the many strategies it has implemented along with Horizon, to help break the cycle of addiction and prevent overdose deaths.

LPD says prescriptions and their containers well be destroyed, and the labels do not need to be removed. However, sharps and syringes will not be accepted.
