Lynchburg officials announce several road projects that could delay traffic around the city

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) -Lynchburg City officials are advising residents that there could be delays around parts of the Hill City due to several upcoming construction projects.

Old Forest Road

  • Starting Monday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m., and continuing through Tuesday morning, Oct. 5 at 6 a.m., temporary lane closures will occur on portions of Old Forest Road (from Kings Drive to Confederate Avenue and at the intersection with Forest Brook Drive, Ardmore Drive and Dandridge Drive) in order to accommodate contractors with Lynchburg Water Resources working on a water line in the area.

Madison Street

  • Now through Friday, Oct. 8 between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day, a portion of Madison Street (in the area of 83 Madison Street) will be reduced to one lane in order to accommodate the abandonment of a sectio of an existing gas line by Columbia Gas of Virginia.

Rivermont Avenue

  • Now through Friday, Oct. 8 between 8:30 am. and 3 p.m. daily, a section of Rivermont Avenue (in the vicinity of 2242 Rivermont Avenue) will be reduced to one lane in order to accommodate the abandonment of an existing gas line by Columbia Gas of Virginia.

Boonsboro Road

  • Now through Tuesday, Nov. 2 (including weekends) between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., a portion of Boonsboro Road (in the vicinity of 5996 Boonsboro Road) in the northwest direction will be reduced to one lane in order to accommodate the placement of underground fiber optic cable by Segra.

Lakeside Drive at College Drive

  • Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 6 through Wednesday, Nov. 3 (including weekends), between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., a portion of the intersection of Lakeside Drive and College Drive (in the vicinity of 1518 Lakeside Drive) will be reduced to one lane in order to accommodate crews from Lumus/Segra to relocate communication lines.

Tate Springs Road

  • Starting Friday, Oct. 8 through Tuesday, Oct. 12 (excluding weekends), between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., a portion of Tate Springs Road (in the vicinity of 1901 Tate Springs Road) will be reduced to one lane to accommodate the installation of new gas service by Columbia Gas of Virginia.

Sedgewick Drive

  • Beginning Monday, Oct. 11 through Friday, Oct. 15, between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., a portion of Sedgewick Drive (in the vicinity of 2809 Sedgewick Drive) will be reduced to one lane in order to accommodate the extension of a gas line for new service by Columbia Gas of Virginia.
