Lynchburg Police name person of interest in Madison Street homicide

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Police Department is looking for a person of interest in a homicide that happened Sunday night IN the 700-block of Madison Street.

Police were called to Madison Street shortly before 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24, for a report of a malicious wounding.

When officers arrived, they found 66-year-old Frank Thomas Smith, Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital, where he later died.

Police say they are searching for 27-year-old Teron Slaughter of Lynchburg. They would like to talk to Slaughter about his possible connection to the shooting death of Smith.
