CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A Lynchburg man is facing possession of marijuana and counterfeiting money, according to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy says he saw a red Chevrolet P/U stopped at a red light in the 13000 block of Wards Road. That’s where he made a routine traffic stop around 2:45 a.m. on Monday, May 23.
The deputy pulled over 19-year-old Demarie Jamir Banks and found 28 ounces of marijuana and $4,000 in counterfeit $100 bills.
Banks is facing possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of 10 or more counterfeit bills charges. The sheriff’s office says there is also possession of controlled substance charges, which will be determined from lab results.
Deputies say Banks was taken to the Lynchburg Blue Ridge Regional Jail and is being held without bond.
