CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Authorities released the identity of the Lynchburg man who lost his life after a tractor-trailer was unable to avoid colliding with the man’s car in Campbell County Tuesday morning.
Police say the two-vehicle crash took place shortly before 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25.
According to Virginia State Police, a 2014 Volkswagen Golf was heading south on Route 29 when it traveled into a median cut-through and into the northbound lanes, where it was hit by a 1999 Kenworth tractor-trailer.
The driver of the Volkswagen — identified by officials as 27-year-old Connor B. McKinney of Lynchburg — was wearing a seatbelt, but died at the scene of the crash.
Police say the driver of the tractor-trailer, 32-year-old Stephanie A. Hooker of Climax, N.C., was also wearing a seatbelt and was not injured during the collision.
As of this writing, authorities say they are still investigating this fatal crash.
