LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — For the next four weeks, Fire Station #3 for the City of Lynchburg will close down so crews can renovate the facility.

Lynchburg city officials say the renovations at the fire station — which is located at 4701 Fort Avenue — will include a building addition, a new kitchen, an updated locker room, and a new training/common area.

From Monday, Nov. 29 through Monday, Dec. 27, the staff at Fire Station #3 will be reportedly be assigned to other fire stations in Lynchburg.

According to Lynchburg Fire Chief Greg Wormser, residents living in the areas normally serviced by the Fort Hill station will not see a noticeable difference in response times during this temporary closure.

“We want residents to know that serving the community by protecting lives and property is always our first priority,” Wormser said in a statement released by the city. “We fully intend to respond to calls consistent with our operations while the station undergoes renovations.”
