Lynchburg Fire Marshal’s Office asks for public’s assistance in recent curbside fires

Lynchburg & Central Virginia News

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Lynchburg Fire Marshal’s Office is asking for the public’s help in their investigation into recent curbside fires.

According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, these fires have involved household items that have been placed outside for brush and bulk pickup.

The department says the fires have been minor, but they are concerned that a fire could quickly flame out of control, which could damage property and cause serious injury.

Primarily, these incidents have been located in the middle Rivermont Avenue, as well as the Pierce and Buchanan Street areas.

“We are encouraging people to say something if they see something. We want to stop the people doing this before someone is seriously injured.”

Greg Wormser, Lynchburg Fire Chief

If you have any information about these incidents, you are asked to contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at (434) 455-6375 or the Emergency Communications non-emergency number at (434) 847-1485. If a fire is active, call 9-1-1.
