Lynchburg City Schools extends early Wednesday dismissals for next six weeks

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — On Thursday morning, Lynchburg City Schools announced that students will be released two hours early for the next six Wednesdays.

Right before letting out for winter break in December, the district only announced two early-release dates for the second semester — Wednesday, Jan. 5 and Wednesday, Jan. 12.

Now, school officials say Lynchburg public school students will be released at the times listed below starting on Wednesday, Jan. 19:

  • 12:25 p.m. for high school students
  • 1:10 p.m. for middle school students
  • 1:55 p.m. for elementary school students

Early dismissals will also take place on the following days, the district says:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 26
  • Wednesday, Feb. 2
  • Wednesday, Feb. 9
  • Wednesday, Feb. 16
  • Wednesday, Feb. 23

According to Lynchburg school officials, teachers and staff will still work the full day on these early-release dates.
