LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – In the latest effort to combat youth violence, Lynchburg city leaders want young people off the streets during the overnight hours. They will be discussing different ways of making that happen at the next city council meeting on May 23rd.
City officials say the current draft ordinance proposes a city-wide curfew for minors between the hours of 11:00 pm and 5:00 am, as well as a misdemeanor penalty of up to $250 dollars in fines for parents who knowingly allow their children out past curfew.
The new ordinance is scheduled to be discussed Tuesday starting at 4:00 pm at City Hall located at 900 Church Street. For more information, you view the City of Lynchburg’s council meetings agendas, minutes, and videos, here.
