Lynchburg City Council announces candidates for Lynchburg School Board

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — With the terms of three Lynchburg School Board members set to expire at the end of the month, the Lynchburg City Council has released the names of the candidates interviewing for the positions in each district.

According to the City of Lynchburg, the terms for the representatives from School District 1, School District 2, and School District 3 will expire on June 30.

Officials announced on Thursday, June 10 the following list of candidates selected to be interviewed from each district:

School District 1

  • James Hoover
  • Randall Trost
  • Clifton Reed
  • Rebecca Nelson

School District 2

  • Sharon Carter
  • Gregory Berry

School District 3

  • Atul Gupta
  • Gloria Preston

Officials say the Lynchburg City Council will make appointments for three-year terms of office — lasting from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2024 — at an upcoming meeting.
