LYNCHBURG, VA. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) is currently offering a lateral transfer program for out-of-state certified police officers.

According to the department, any certified police officer interested in the program must complete an application and attend a testing event on Aug. 27. A polygraph examination, psychological examination, background investigation, physical examination, and medical examination must also be completed prior to employment.

Upon hire, officers will attend eight weeks of training from Nov. 7 to Dec. 29 at the Fairfax County Criminal Justice Training Academy, authorities say.

Housing, meals, and transportation will reportedly be provided by the department during the training period.
