APPOMATTOX, Va. (WFXR) — Nancy Webb went to the grocery store in hopes of buying bananas. When they were out of stock, she was disappointed but decided to check again the following day. To her surprise, she left the store with a bunch of bananas, along with a winning lottery ticket.
Webb, a local woman from Appomattox, bought her ticket from the Kroger off Richmond Highway in town.
Webb shared that she doesn’t play the Virginia Lottery very often, but after she brought the ticket, she proceeded to scratch off the ‘100X the Money’ game in the Kroger parking lot revealing her $300,000 prize.
The $300,000 that Webb won is the game’s second-largest prize. Virginia Lottery shared that it’s the first of three $300,000 prizes claimed in this game… which means two more remain unclaimed.
All Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 education in Virginia. Appomattox County received more than $2.1 million in Lottery funds for K-12 education last year.
