LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Lynchburg City Schools have released further information regarding the restricted entry and exit at both Linkhorne Elementary and Middle School.

According to Lynchburg City Schools, at around 4:00 p.m. a staff member reported what they thought sounded like a gunshot in the area. In response, both the middle and high school were placed restricted entry and exit shortly after.

Police investigated the area, nothing was found and the restricted entry and exit status was lifted.

Students at Linkhorne Middle will their after-school activities as normal.

Students at Linkhorne Elementary School will start dismissing soon. The school district asks for parents picking their students up to be patient as they dismiss students in a safe and orderly manner.



LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Both Linkhorne Elementary and Middle Schools have been placed on restricted entry and exit on Monday, Oct. 16.

Restricted entry and exit means that students and staff are continuing their normal daily activities inside, but no one is allowed in or out of the building.

According to Lynchburg City Schools, buses at the elementary school are being held and dismissal for elementary students is being delayed. Middle school students participating in after school activities are continuing activities inside the building.

The school district asks that no one come to the school or attempts to enter the school until further notice.
