Lightning strike sparks early morning fire at Bedford County home

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — First responders from Bedford County were called out to a Forest house early Wednesday morning after a lightning strike sparked a fire.

According to the Forest Volunteer Fire Department’s tweets from Wednesday, July 28, crews responded to the fire just after 1 a.m.

According to Forest fire officials, crews attacked the fire from the inside, stopping the flames.

The department says crews removed one cat from the home, but additional searches were negative.

Members of the Bedford Fire Department also responded to the fire and provided assistance at the scene.

WFXR News has reached out to the Forest Volunteer Fire Department to see if anyone was injured or displaced as a result of the fire.
