UPDATE 2/2 at 3:32 P.M.: CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Campbell County Public School officials say the Leesville Road Elementary School had an early dismissal on Feb. 2 because of a chemical smell in the building.
On Thursday morning, staff at the Elementary school noticed an odor in the building. As a precaution, students were sheltered in a safe location for HVAC technicians to investigate and dismissed early.
During their investigation, it was learned a staff member had used an unauthorized over-the-counter spray on a classroom carpet.
School officials say the building is being ventilated and classes will resume tomorrow.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Campbell County Public Schools (CCPS) has announced that the Leesville Road Elementary School will close for the remainder of the day because of an unidentified odor in the building.
School officials say students riding the bus were dismissed at 11:30 a.m. and taken home. Parents who pick up children are instructed to follow normal procedures.
CCPS says they have HVAC technicians working at the school to determine the odor and safety of the building.
